Software Team Lead SW028

Cambridge

Full time

We are offering a great career development opportunity to an experienced software engineer who already has some experience of managing or mentoring colleagues. This is your chance to take the next step into management and lead the Product Development team. This team works on our own product offerings, including Hearing Assistance, and on product demonstration platforms (typically based on a Raspberry Pi).

What you will do:

You will be responsible for leading the day to day work developing the software for real time Hearing Assistance devices and product demonstrations. As well as doing your own work you will be involved in helping to make technical decisions, managing projects, mentoring less experienced engineers and in taking responsibility for ensuring code is thoroughly tested and robust.

The Product Development team employs a wide range of technologies from the embedded to the distributed. Whilst you must have an eye for detail, the role will also require awareness of the bigger picture and you should be able to demonstrate the leadership needed to shape and handle evolving requirements. Previous audio experience is not essential, but you must be able to convince us of your genuine interest in working in our field. You will need an adaptable and flexible approach to your work and be happy in a fast-moving start up environment.

In the current situation, we are all working remotely. While we will offer you support and help to get up to speed quickly, you must be happy to integrate into a new team and company while working independently. In due course we will return to our office on Cambridge University’s West Campus, but even then, we plan to offer a mixture of home and office-based work to all our team members.

●      Good coding experience in C++

●      Demonstrable ability to produce clear, well-structured and robust code

●      Raspberry Pi or embedded development experience

●      Linux

●      Multithreaded/multiprocessor programming

●      Previous experience of providing technical input to team decisions and of mentoring less experienced engineers

What would make your application stand out:

Experience with any of the following would be a great addition:

●      Audio or digital signal processing

●      Github or Jira

●      Mobile application development

Embedded programming
